Whether you're presenting them with cake, cookies, or stacks of fluffy pancakes, there's no mistaking the message when you surprise your most beloved with a footed cake plate bearing vintage heart-shaped cookie cutters.
THE HEART OF THE MATTER: For a fresh twist on a cake plate garland, attach cookie cutters to each end of three or four ribbons of equal length, and then lay each ribbon across the plate so the ends hang evenly. (Our creative guru Ki drilled small holes through the cutters, then used a thin wire to make a loop for hanging; you could also punch a small hole in the top, or simply thread ribbon right through any cutters that wish to use again.) Place a paper doily on top of ribbons to avoid soiling them with whatever goodies you present to the ones you love.
